The battery information and test documents behind Gator Eyes.

Gator Eyes clip lights use sealed, non-replaceable LR41 alkaline button cells. The tested clip light, model SXI-L001, was evaluated to UL 4200A:2023 button-cell safety requirements, and the manufacturer has provided the General Certificate of Conformity and full test report for public reference.

The 2024 test report identifies the tested Gator Eyes clip light as model SXI-L001 and lists three LR41 cells, each rated 1.5V and 40mAh. The cells are not intended for user removal or replacement.

What to know

Sealed button-cell design.

Each Gator Eyes light uses three LR41 alkaline button cells in a sealed, self-contained format. That design helps keep the light compact and the batteries inaccessible during normal use.

The batteries are not intended for user removal or replacement. When a light reaches the end of its useful life, leave the housing intact and follow the recycling guidance for the complete device.

Reese's Law & UL 4200A

Designed and tested around button-cell accessibility.

The General Certificate of Conformity cites 16 CFR Part 1263, the federal safety standard for consumer products containing button or coin batteries. CPSC guidance explains that 16 CFR Part 1263 implements Section 2 of Reese's Law and incorporates ANSI/UL 4200A-2023 as the mandatory safety standard for covered consumer products.

Non-replaceable battery construction

The report evaluates the light as a product whose button cells are not intended for user removal or replacement. The enclosure must effectively prevent access to the cells.

Use-and-abuse testing

The tested sample passed applicable drop, impact, crush, tension/compression, and post-test accessibility requirements documented in the report.

Warnings & markings

The report also evaluates required button-cell warnings and product/packaging markings, including identification of the LR41 battery type and 1.5V nominal cell voltage.

The test report documents a 330 ±5 N crushing force applied for 10 seconds, with the tested sample compliant.

Post-abuse accessibility

After the abuse sequence, the report documents the required probe-force check and states the battery remained inaccessible.

Button-cell safety at home

Keep the product intact and away from small children.

Button cells can cause severe injury if swallowed. Do not attempt to open Gator Eyes to reach the LR41 cells, and do not recharge, force-discharge, disassemble, heat, or incinerate the product.

End of useful life

Use it fully. Leave it intact. Recycle it responsibly.
